MOME Strengthens Its Professional Network
Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design operating under the auspices of the MOME Foundation from 2020 expands its professional network with knowledge based partnerships. Following industrial trends and supporting fresh graduates are among the program’s priorities. First, the BE LIGHT!, the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency and the Market Építő Zrt. (Market Construction Ltd.) joined the network.
The Stefan Lengyel Fellowship of Excellence, established by the Foundation for Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, besides supporting student achievement, places great emphasis on the expansion of up-to-date industry specific practical competencies and the professional integration of students. With their current project topics our invited partners will join the course week by supporting and deepening the topics of the RDI courses of the MOME educational program during the spring semester. Students work on project topics in cooperation with professional experts from the market.
During the next semester the HFDA will inspire the mapping of the possibilities of cyclical economy in the fashion and textile industry. Members of the group developing the best concept will be awarded by being admitted to the Agency’s “Young Talent” program. “The mentor program provides professional knowledge for young talents to establish the path to their first professional achievements. Beyond being part of the creative community, designers may see positive changes in the expansion of their professional relationships, therefore in their professional acknowledgement as well,” Zsófia Bata-Jakab, head of the Hungarian Fashion and Design Agency, said.
The BE LIGHT! project attempts to break the frames of Lighting Design in different designer contexts and is being coordinated by Balázs Püspök, the new head of the Academic Unit at MOME. According to Zoltán Morvai, the manager in chief to the BE LIGHT! project “a revolution is taking place in lightning design, the role and valorization of lighting systems control and lighting design has significantly increased. Producers are searching for new ways, a new design world and new uses of materials through which they could become known.” The BE LIGHT! project has been involved in developing the field further in the past years and it also collects good examples from the international market and educational actors. This theoretical basis is presently under a conscious further development at MOME searching for connections regarding future work. Morvai considers “innovation” a motto for the BE LIGHT! co-operation project for innovation is the foundation for continuous development.
During the course week, together with the students, the Market researches the presently mostly debated issue in architecture, e.g., the use of pre-fabricated concrete elements. “For the Market Építő Zrt. it is a priority to support talents and we consider this cooperation as an investment to the future. Our common goal is to provide a proper background for students to be able to carry out their creative and research work under relaxed circumstances. The project provides a great opportunity for us to meet students having professional education who might be able to enrich the knowledge base of the Market.” Highlighted Sándor Scheer, chief executive of the Market Építő Zrt., in connection to the cooperation with MOME.
