DMM Open Seminar & Manage [it] Yourself – Extra
On Thursday, 6 February 2020, before the applications are to be submitted, applicants will have the opportunity to get a better insight into the Design and Art Management MA programme at MOME. We seek answers, among others, to questions such as: what is art and design management good for? How do a designer/creator and a manager cooperate? What is the training itself like at MOME? How is the entrance exam? Following this, from 18:00 on, as part of Manage [it] Yourself – Extra we can hear a roundtable discussion on the cooperation and experiences.
Before the deadline for the submission of applications, everyone has the opportunity to have a look at the MOME MA in Design and Art Management. This can be a good opportunity not only for applicants, but also for designers and those interested in the profession/field who’d like to learn more about the potential of designer-manager collaboration. Find out why a (fledgling) design/art business might need a manager, what their tasks are and what skills they need.
The programme will start with an open internship class for the first year, where Júlia Oravecz, a graduated student, will give a presentation in MOME Master M_012.
Afterwards, Manage [it] Yourself will start at 18:00 in the MOME Ground Canteen, where Anna Eszter Zászkaliczky and Anita Boldog (AB Concrete Design & Gifts), Henriett Berényi and András Turi will talk about their collaboration and their experiences of working together. The evening will be moderated by Eszter Anna Zászkaliczky.
Finally, the evening will be concluded with networking and an informal discussion with the invited guests.

Manage [it] Yourself is a series of specialised events organised by the MOME Master of Art and Design Management. The name points to a current trend in the arts sector; Hungarian designers, who have mostly been their own managers, are beginning to realise that they need a specialist to ensure professional quality and a well-organised, financially viable operation.
We would like to explore the nature of the cooperation, and find out in which tasks the invited speakers would need/require the help of a manager. Each time we come up with a new theme, which gives us the opportunity to present the possibilities of management in different areas of design, and to invite two representatives of a particular artistic sector who follow different practices.
